Motorcycle PartsMotorcycle racing is a broad term that comprises all sporting aspects of motorcycling. The FIM is the leading international authority for motorcycle racing and almost all nations boast of their own governing bodies. Motorcycle racing is not a single event as it could take the form of diverse races. Road racing is the most typical form of motorcycle racing in which the bikes often compete on landing strip, either on circuits or on closed public roads. It is often hailed as true road racing. MotoGP and Superbike racing could be clubbed under the circuit racing while events, North West 200 and the Macau Grand Prix might be included in closed public road racing. You will notice further classes in road racing where similar races are held with a slight variation of rules.
Drag racing is another form of motorcycle racing in which participants line up at a drag strip. They are supposed to take their positions at a signaled starting line and at the starting signal, the riders pick up the pace down a straight, quarter-mile long paved track. At the other end of the track, their elapsed time and terminal speed are put into the record book. Of course, the one who gets first to the finish line, emerges victorious. Drag racing often takes place upon purpose built venues and could also be held at temporary venues. Apart from the usual and regular motorcycles, top fuel motorcycles also make their presence felt by taking part in this category.
Hill climbing is also a sort of motorcycle racing in which a single rider scales a road going up a hill in the least possible time. While on the other hand, a road rally- a navigation event on public roads- is a type of motorcycle racing in which the contestants take a trip of a number of checkpoints in varied locations. In doing so, they ought to abide by the road traffic laws. Supermoto is a blend of road-racing and motocross as the participating motorcycles are chiefly motocross types while their tires are of road-racing types. Motocross, similar to road racing, is a racing which takes place off road. Motocross trails are built on sands, muds and grasses.
Track Racing is the most organized form of motorcycle racing and comes in various ways. The first among them is the track racing which is done on dirt ovals surface and usually hosted at fairgrounds and speedways. Indoor races are of sophisticated natures which are held on a refined concrete floor. On these floors, often coke syrup is sprayed for better gripping of the tires. Such tracks are termed as TT track. Motorcycle speedway, usually called Speedway, is a motorcycle racing that engages 4 to 6 riders contending over 4 laps on an oval circuit. It is held on a rack made up of dirt or loosely packed shale as contestants make use of this surface to slide their vehicles.
