Four Wheel Drive PartsFour wheel off-road racing is a form of racing in which a range of particularly tailor-made vehicles in the form of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and buggies participate and try to win in the course of off-road environments. Almost every part of the globe has its own format of off-road racing and these races are generally arranged on a contest basis. In Europe, there are various such races in almost all parts of the continent. In Italy, Erez Raider is such a competition which is held in a grand way. While, in Israeli, you will get to see the T1 4x2 Rally Raid champion which is extremely popular throughout the Europe. In Europe, these off-road races are held in the form of autocross rally.
Apart from these races, desert and rally-raids are also organized at a grand scale. Some famous among them are, the Paris-Dakar, Master Rally and Baja. Like Europe, American regions are also very much fond of these sorts of off-road races. Particularly, in North America, the history of the race is very old and it started way back in the early 20th century. To host off-road events effectively, they have even set-up a governing body in early 70s which looks after all the events of such nature. After the formation of the body, they initiated few major steps to bolster the game and even held some races. First of these races were held across the Mexican desert.
The event, when held for the very first time, was called the Mexican 1000. Soon after, it went on to become popular as the Baja 1000. This event got a chance to see some of different classes of vehicles: tiny and bulky bore motorcycles, stock VW, production vehicles, buggies, trucks, and custom fabricated race vehicles. The course which was put up in practice for the first time has not changed a bit yet and remained reasonably the same over the years. The majority of events in this popular race happen to be either a point to point race or a loop race. First year itself, it was held under the name of NORRA Mexican 1000 Rally and the course was set at 849 miles.
Apart from it, you are sure to find quite a few other formats of off-road racing in North America. Some four wheel off-road races are held on a circuit of less than five miles. Crandon International Off-Road Raceway is such a race which is organized on a circuit. Stadium racing is another format of off-road racing which was made fashionable by the Mickey Thompson Entertainment Group. In this format, off-road racing vehicles compete in a provisional off-road racetrack created inside a stadium. Through this format, usually time races are organized in which the stipulated time periods are there to be taken into account. Hill climbing might also be put into this category of off-road racing and, moreover, any form of racing that is not held on a particular paved track, could be included in it.
