Dune Buggy PartsPuerto Peñasco, also recognized as Rocky Point amongst English-speaking visitors, is a small metropolitan town within a metropolis of the same name. It lies in the northwestern part of the state of Sonora, Mexico and is placed on the shore of the Gulf of California. The town has a population of nearly 50,000 inhabitants with a large municipality and is sparingly inhabited. Rocky Point’s municipality borders the Yuma County, Arizona in the United States. The area takes pride in its broad variations amid high and low tides. In the midst of the shallowly sloping sea bed, it goes through some of the vivid changes in the waterline twice a day. At the eastern beaches of Rocky Point, you will hit upon a rocky reef with plentiful sea life.
Nearly more than 99% of its municipality's inhabitants live in the town of Puerto Peñasco, and almost no one resides in its Sonoran Desert hinterland. Due to its some of the exotic sea-side beaches, it has become a favorite destination for many far-off tourists as well as local area residents. Rocky Point turns even more attractive for the duration of Spring Break. It has become all the rage among the U.S. people who reside in the state of Arizona as it is the nearest beach for them. Rocky Point has turned out to be a trendy Spring Break spot with students from Arizona, New Mexico, and California. Its location makes it even more charming among the U.S. people as it is positioned in the 'free zone' where travelers are not required at present to get immigration papers in order to visit.
Rocky Point is renowned mostly for its beaches and is all set for forthcoming harbor and other boat-related improvements as part of Mexico's Escalera Nautica initiative. In this development, a series of tourist-class harbors will be speckled up and down the Baja coast in an endeavor to encourage marine tourism. The town boasts of two main beach areas. Sandy Beach, a spacious and flat area, is found to the west of the Old Port. Quite a lot of large hotels and resorts are located here. East of Rocky Point, you will come across a long coast with a number of areas, which is locally called as La Mirador, Playa del Oro or Las Conchas. There, beachfront and near-beach condos, homes and timeshares could be seen in plenty.
Apart from the beaches, Rocky Point is also famous for its statue of Benito Juarez. This grand statue attracts a good number of travelers and is located in a plaza near the beaches. You will also get at least two scuba diving operations in the town even though the waters close to shore tend to be fairly low. Some other sites that draw the attention of tourists include Malecon in Old Puerto and Choya Bay. CEDO museum in las conchas, Playa Bonita and CET MAR aquarium are some other wonderful spots in the town.
